Have any of you ever heard of Maca Root? I came across Maca Root Powder for the first time in the tea section at the local Farmer’s Greenmarket store over the weekend and thought I would give it a try.
Here is what I know so far about Maca Powder:
Maca Powder comes from a root Native to Peru. It is also cited that maca root was eaten by Inca imperial warriors before battles because it increases their strength and stamina, fueling formidable Incan warriors……..SOLD!!
It is also well-known for increasing and libido and boosting a positive mood. Maca root contains calcium, iron, magnesium and selenium as well as essential fatty acids and 19 amino acids. You can buy it in the form of a powder and use it in your smoothies, soups or juices. You can find it at Whole Foods and at your local Vitamin Shop.

After a weekend of St. Patty’s Day activities, I thought I could use some in my smoothie this morning and noticed the effects on my sleep, energy level and mood right away. I also found it very refreshing and reviving. I would definitely recommend giving it a try!

1 cup of almond milk
Handful of Strawberries
1 tbsp of maca root
1 tbsp of honey or agave
1 tbsp of coconut flakes
